“I’m here. We’ll be here. You’ll be here and this will all be a weird nearly forgotten time. We’ll have to muster up the ketchup to recall it with any dimensions.” - J. Rollins it is night-time now isn’t it romantic? think of it too dark above us to know what’s really above us but it’s really above us it’s positively tenebrous we carry little lights to help us see just a little at a time of what’s around us but it’s to little effect shadows tickle at us from every dark direction so we hold hands, sing under our breath, and step forward immersion immersion bear painted on a tree-trunk isn’t she lovely? dilate the doorways send pinwheels cartwheeling enormous listening petals canine tooth, hibiscus, you’re a neat girl whisper in caverns and smile I can hear drums and voices far away but everyone’s getting closer pattern of paw-prints claw-marks in private places to great effect tears trace tracks through the paint painted on our faces in the low light the difference between flames, leaves, october, things with wings, and the pupils of our eyes is not very much so we raise voices, kiss under that gaze, and step upward undulation undulation charismatic megaflora wouldn’t it be nice? that was the most stressful drive of my life I felt sure I’d die on my way home we packed all day in semi-blizzard and didn’t leave ‘til after dark but Alex saved my life and John and Carrie and Alan and Camille stelliform night furnace the moon has thick bark the howl and the response eleven is an adjective snow is the sky’s leaves falling winter is the whole sky and fall is leaving so we fall in love, name our place, and step inside glottal stop glottal stop at the fish and goose soiree are you sleeping? this whole year has been two years tears trace tracks through the dark it’s about the cortical homunculus obviously she’s a drum and a voice right here every hair on her head is a spiral staircase every limb a reminder to wish, to wander, to wait listen to that loud flower we are now moving from the forest to embraces in darker places introvert marimba eyeshadow mother of sighs the light bright back from two cats’ eyes these months end in embers so we save each other, box unruly shadows, and sleep quite well, thank you

it won’t always be like this jump some years in some direction connecting stars and keys she hits those chords and the piano purrs the moment hangs there in the fragrant mid-air want that moment, this moment, this is where I just want to be free I just want to be here (there) won’t let the ratio of blood singing to sleepy eyes discourage knowing what’s real, just orbited away it won’t always be like that last night, we slept on the back of a lion running tonight, we’re in tall grass in separate fields plants still sway at the edge of our seeing but we hear one heart and not three (the feeling that’s felt’s felt slowly) all those boys with their beautiful hair strum guitars and build fires to connect darknesses in the wind they’re calling out in some direction with drums and gales and strong chests and songs and phones all those girls with their books and records songs and seasons and memories stories, stereoscopic, repetition and now to wonder how to touch and live whatever it is and not just write poetry and songs about it whatever it is tonight, I want to sleep inside a piano feel your muscles under your skin hold my ear against your chest close my eyes and hear a lion again run fingers and tongue along the high strings chromatic scales and feathers the good and sweet things resonate the forest finds a way inside here it will always be like this my favorite girl has fox-ears and my favorite girl flies barefoot my favorite girl knows me as well as herself and my favorite girl dreams of songs by rivers at night my favorite favorite girl’s not there (here) all my friends painting words and candles and stars on the ceilings of places they’ll only live and glow in for a couple of years do they wonder how to touch and live whatever it is or just sing poetry and songs about it?
