I Want to Marry a Lighthouse

from Quarter Moon Singles Club #3 by Infinity Girls

lyrics

in the land of a thousand crushes
you and i are made of snow
(we’re so heavy)
when we fall asleep
pug-dogs pull our sled across the plain
takes a long time!
takes a long walk!
likes long voyages, things foreign, water
in the land of a thousand blushes
you and i in snow

ramona come closer
and bow the low strings
set the mood
cast a glance
the chords are mysterious
the clouds are leaving us
to our own devices
catch me staring
stir me in somewhere soon

though it was warm and well-lit
everything
(i mean the leaves and snow and night)
was falling
letters to loves and wolves and friends
as the ghost world turns
in a plant-filled place
there isn’t a mountain
the mistake was trying to travel in a straight line
in such an obviously round and curving place
sending out questions
every guitar, voice, and cello out of tune
what happens when this traveling ends?

a watched clock never boils
can’t find the light-switch in these woods
waves of waves of waves of waves of wild strawberries
i want to marry a lighthouse
crooked teeth and hazy eyes
in a plant-filled place
why can’t i be that girl?
